Born and raised in Honolulu, Zach Yokoyama has more than 14 years of tattooing experience. His work centers on traditional and contemporary Japanese tattooing, including tebori, while also incorporating black and grey, geometric, and illustrative approaches.
During his apprenticeship, Zach supported himself as a sushi chef, an experience that reinforced his respect for precision, patience, and craftsmanship. His creative practice also includes acrylic painting, charcoal, and woodworking, giving him a broad understanding of form, texture, and design.
At Black Cat Tattoo, Zach works closely with each client to create thoughtful custom tattoos that respect Japanese traditions while allowing room for modern expressions.Contemporary Japanese
